Women's only P.M.S. Prevention, Motivation, Self-Defense and awareness
HERE WE CAN GIVE YOU SOME DESCRIPTIONS OF OUR CLASSES. LET YOU GET TO KNOW THE INSTRUCTORS, AND TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW OUR SCHOOL OPERATES. FIRST OFF, WE ARE NOT A SPORT SCHOOL, WE DO INCOURAGE OUR STUDENTS TO COMPETE, BUT DO NOT REQUIRE IT. OUR JIU-JITSU IS SELF DEFENSE BASED ALONG WITH OUR STRIKING PROGRAMS. ALTHOUGH WE ARE A MIXED MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY, DON'T READ TOO MUCH INTO THE NAME. MIXED MARTIAL ARTS IS NOT JUST A FIGHTERS SPORT OR ART. IT COMBINES MANY ELEMENTS OF GRAPPLING, STRIKING, TAKEDOWNS, AND VARIOUS FORMS OF MARTIAL ARTS. YES, IT IS WHAT YOU SEE ON UFC AND BELLATOR, BUT THAT IS SPORT, WITH RULES AND REGULATIONS. THERE ARE NO RULES ON THE STREET WHEN YOU ARE ATTACKED. NO ONE IS GONNA JUST STOP IF YOU TAP OUT, IF SOMONE IS ROBBING YOU, SAYING I GIVE UP WILL NOT GET THE REF TO STEP IN LIKE ON TV. WE STRIVE TO TEACH THE SKILLS AND DISIPLINES NECASSARY TO MAKE YOU MORE CONFIADENT IN A BAD SITUION. WE STRIVE TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO DEFEND YOUR SELF AND GIVE YOU THE MOTIVATION TO DO SO. WE ALSO LOVE TO HAVE FUN DOING IT. OUR WARM UPS ARE PART OF OUR FITNESS PROGRAMS AND DO REQUIRE SOME STENOUS EXERCISE, HOWEVER IT IS TAYLORED TO THE INDIVIDUAL, IF YOU CAN’T DO A PUSH UP WE WILL CUSTOMIZE THE EXCERISE FOR YOU. AFTER YOU HAVE GRADUATED OUR FUNDAMENTAL PROGRAM IN 2-4 YEARS YOU WILL DEFINATLEY BE ABLE TO DO MOST OF THE EXERCISES PRESCRIBED AND HAVE A IDEAL SELF DEFENSE KNOWLEDGE.
Women’s P.M.S. (Prevention, Motivation, Self-defense and awareness)
This Program is instructed by Coach Kim, it offers a women's only environment for those that can be intimidated or just don't want to train with men. It teaches not only self-defense but self-awareness and motivational skills for daily life. You won't just feel confident with your survival skills in a conflict but also feel empowered through the motivation this can provide. This Course is a Gracie Jiu-jitsu based class with mixed striking skills added.
Spider Monkey MMA (Ages 4 and up)
Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-6:15pm
This is our Kids Premier MMA class focused on Bully Prevention. It is Taught by Both Coach Kim (Mama) and Coach Jason (Papa). With both instructors in the class we have a great mixed environment for children with a strong discipline and nurturing nature. We strive to make sure our kids understand the effects of bulling and how to prevent it while teaching Gracie Jiu-jitsu and other striking arts. We also play games that help to get your child interactive and learn to work as a team as well as an individual.
Gracie Jiu-jitsu Fundamentals Class
(ages 11 and up)
Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-7:30pm
Our Fundamentals class is for ages 11 and up to adult. It focuses on positions and basic application of ground techniques in Gracie Jiu-jitsu. This class is for everyone from the "newbie" to the advanced. You can never train the fundamental techniques enough. We spend a lot of time just drilling. We choose to only teach 1-2 series of a technique and 1 self-defense technique a month in this class. 36 basic techniques are taught with 34 self-defense basics. It takes a minimum of two years to complete this course and move up to blue belt. Most students take around 3 years before feeling confident enough to move up. It incorporates our self-defense and sparring aspects after the first 4 weeks.
Gracie Jiu-jitsu Intermediate to Advanced
Tuesday and Thursday 7:30-8:45pm
This class is for the student that has graduated to blue belt or has at least 2 years knowledge of Gracie Jiu-jitsu. It focuses on drilling the basics while incorporating new adjustments to old techniques to improve application. It incorporates 61 new techniques per level of degree for blue belt with a total of 244 new techniques to master before moving on to the advanced purple belt course. Even though this is an intermediate class we welcome all level students to participate in this class. Instruction is in a more progressive and faster pace than in the fundamentals class. This class also has sparring at the end of each session.
Muay Thai Fitness and MMA Conditioning. Wednesday 5:30-7:30pm
These classes are held back to back and incorporate many fitness aspects. We use sand bags, kettle bells, and body weight exercises for warm ups. Then we cover striking basics and bag work during rounds. We also use several types of targets to sharpen our striking focus. In the MMA class, we do include light sparring sessions. The Muay Thai Fitness class is a great way to stay in shape and learn a new art form. It spends more time on the fitness aspect of martial arts. Our MMA program covers striking for self-defense and sport sparring. We mix boxing, Muay Thai kickboxing, Karate, Judo, and Hapkido to get a great workout and flexible fighting style. We even mix in our Gracie Jiu-jitsu techniques for striking, takedown and submission sparring. At the end of class we try to insure everyone can get up and go to work or school the next day. MMA can be a brutal sport but we want to make sure no one gets hurt but still has a great time.
